Long-term car rental in Los Angeles for foreign visitors (2026)

Updated October 30, 2026 · By Yaniv Segal, Los Angeles resident and founder of RentCarUSA

Short answer: A family sedan for 26 days in Los Angeles, including collision damage waiver, $300,000 liability, all taxes and fees, and unlimited miles, costs $858 ($33/day) with RentCarUSA. The same coverage booked directly on a major rental brand's site runs about $1,270 for a Corolla-size car, and buying the waivers at the counter pushes a small SUV above $1,900.

How much does a monthly car rental in Los Angeles cost?

A month-long rental in LA with full coverage costs about $800–1,200 for 26 days with us, and $1,250–2,000 booked directly with the same coverage, depending on the car class. Three things drive the price: where you pick up (branches reached by shuttle from LAX are usually cheaper than the airport counter), whether full coverage is really included, and your dates (most companies raise prices over Thanksgiving and Christmas).

Economy Chevrolet Spark 4 $31 $806

What should a long-term rental include?

  1. Collision/loss damage waiver (CDW/LDW), ideally with zero deductible.
  2. Third-party liability: California's legal minimum is low, so look for $300,000 or more.
  3. All taxes and fees: airport, tourism and sales tax add 20–30% to the base rate.
  4. Unlimited miles: a month in California easily means 3,000 miles.
