Monthly Car Rental in Los Angeles: The Complete Guide (2026)

Updated October 30, 2026 · By Yaniv Segal, RentCarUSA

In short: A family car for several weeks in Los Angeles, with damage cover, third-party liability up to $300,000, all taxes and unlimited miles, costs $33 per day with us, which is $858 for 26 days. The same coverage booked directly on a major rental company's website costs about $1,277 for a Corolla-size car, and a car where you buy the protection at the counter comes to more than $1,900.

How much does it cost to rent a car for a month in Los Angeles?

A one-month rental in Los Angeles with full insurance costs between $800 and $1,200 for 26 days with us, and between $1,250 and $2,000 when booked directly with the same coverage, depending on the size of the car. The final price depends on three things: where you pick up (branches you reach by shuttle from LAX are usually cheaper than the counter at the airport), whether full insurance is really included, and your pickup dates (on holidays the price usually jumps).

Car type Example Seats Per day Total for 26 days
Economy Chevrolet Spark 4 $31 $806
Compact Ford Focus 5 $32 $832
Family sedan Kia K4 5 $33 $858
Large sedan Kia K5 5 $36 $936
Small SUV Chevrolet Trax 5 $36 $936
Midsize SUV Nissan Rogue 5 $37 $962
Minivan Chrysler Pacifica 7 $44 $1,144
7-seat SUV Nissan Pathfinder 7 $46 $1,196

RentCarUSA prices, pickup near LAX, include damage cover, third-party liability, taxes and unlimited miles. The price is the same on holidays.

Comparison: where is a monthly rental cheapest?

On October 25–26, 2026 we checked a 26-day rental (October 30 to November 25), pickup at LAX, a driver from abroad over 25, with full coverage:

Option Small or family car, 26 days Full insurance included? Notes
RentCarUSA $806–858 Yes: damage cover + liability up to $300,000 + taxes Fixed price, quoted in advance
Direct booking on a major US rental company's site, non-US resident About $1,277 Damage cover + liability + taxes For a Corolla-size car
Car only + damage waiver and liability bought at the counter $1,900 and more Yes, for about $41 extra per day For a small SUV
Turo (private car) About $830–1,300 Depends on the owner Insurance and terms vary
Private rental through Facebook groups About $700–950 for 30 days Not always Often an older car, cash deposit

At the counter, the damage waiver alone was about $28 per day and liability about $13 per day. Over 26 days, these two items add more than $1,000 to the price of the car.

What must be included in a long rental?

A long rental without full insurance is a big risk: repairing a bumper in Los Angeles can easily cost $1,500. Make sure the quote states these four things:

  1. Damage cover for the car (CDW or LDW), ideally with no deductible.
  2. Third-party liability. The California minimum is very low, so look for at least $300,000.
  3. All taxes and fees. The airport fee, tourism fee and sales tax add 20%–30% to the base price.
  4. Unlimited miles, because in a month you can easily drive 3,000 miles.

What is included in our service?

One important rule: the car may not be used for delivery or rideshare work, such as Amazon Flex, DoorDash or Uber. Commercial "for hire" use is prohibited and voids the protection.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rent a car for a month in Los Angeles with a licence from my home country?

Yes. A visitor can drive in California with a valid licence from their home country. At the counter you show your licence, your passport and a credit card in the driver's name.

What is the minimum age?

  1. Drivers aged 21–24 pay a daily surcharge, and we include it in the quote.

Can I return the car at the airport?

Yes. Pickup from LAX is by organised shuttle to the branch, and the return is directly at the LAX terminal for the same price.

Does the price go up on holidays?

Not with us. The 26-day price is the same at Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.

Can I drive to Las Vegas, other states or Canada?

Yes. Driving to other US states and to Canada is allowed, with unlimited miles. Driving to Mexico is not allowed.

How do I book?

Send us your landing and departure dates and the type of car on WhatsApp (+1 (213) 774-7970) or through the quote form. You receive a final price in dollars, and we book in your name.
