What you need at pickup
- Passport
- Valid driver's licence (plus an International Driving Permit if it isn't in the Latin alphabet)
- A physical credit card in the driver's name. Cards issued in your home country are fine. Debit cards are not accepted for the deposit hold
A bridge until you settle
Most newcomers use us for the first one to three months, until their SSN, US licence and credit history are in place. Then they lease or buy. When you become a California resident you will need a California licence; our relocation guide explains the steps.
Frequently asked questions
Do I really not need a US credit history?
Correct. You need a passport, a valid licence and a credit card in your name. Cards from your home country are accepted.
Can I use a debit card?
Not for the deposit hold at pickup. It has to be a physical credit card in the main driver's name.
Is insurance included, even without a US policy?
Yes. Damage waiver and liability up to $300,000 are part of the price.
How long can I keep the car?
From three weeks to several months. We quote the full period upfront.
